  • Eclampsia - one or more generalised tonic-clonic seizures superimposed on pre-eclampsia
  • Seizures: ~60% antepartum, 20% intrapartum, 20% postnatal (most within 48 hours, up to 4 weeks after delivery)

20% of eclamptic seizures occur postnatally - warn all women with pre-eclampsia to seek emergency review if headache, visual changes, or epigastric pain develop within 4 weeks of delivery.
